Disadvantaged Groups and Situations in Early Childhood Education

The Association for the Development of Early Childhood Education in Turkey (ADECET)(http://www.tooegd.org.tr/english/), is a non-governmental organization founded in 10 February 1967. Beyza Kepenek, a 2nd year student at the Department of Preschool Education, at Istanbul Medeniyet University, was elected as the representative student of the ADACET Student Commitee. In addition, our faculty member, who will act as both a mentor and coordinator to support the work of ADACET and especially the Student Committee on behalf of our University, is Assist. Prof. Dr. is Emine Ayyıldız.

In the meeting which is held on January 22, 2022, the President of ADACET, Prof. Dr. Serap Erdogan informed the participants from Preschool Education Departments' mentors, coordinators and student representatives of various universities and preschool teachers who have been working in the field from all over the country about association and the activities carried out since its establishment and the activities which are planned for the short and long term goals.

In this context, the first project of ADACET Student Commitee is identified as reaching out and working with the disadvantaged groups who have no access or difficulties to access the pre-school education. This  project is aiming to identify these groups all over the counry and perform some activities with those children. The reports will be published after the project is terminated. As a starter of the project, Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Ayyıldız will be presenting, on January 31, 2022, with the title of 'Disadvantaged Groups and Situations in Early Childhood Education'. This presentation will be moderated by our student and also ADACET Student Commitee representative  Beyza Kepenek.
